In search of an Engineer Smart Production

Do you have experience in automation and affinity to digital applications bridging the gap between OT and IT in an industrial context?  Do you want to contribute to the development of concrete industrial applications for the manufacturing industry, and the breakthrough of Industry 4.0? Then, this may be the job for you!  To strengthen our team "Manufacturing Systems & Technology" we are looking for an Engineer - Smart Production in Genk (location Thor Park):

As Engineer Smart Production you will be responsible for setting up and implementing demonstration and innovation projects in the field of data and vision-driven optimisation of production processes within an Industry 4.0 context.  

Typical activities include:

  • Carrying out projects for and at companies within a production context (innovative applications in robotics, machining, machine tools...) 

  • Making the potential of human/robot collaboration and machine-vision applications for smart production accessible to Belgian companies in the manufacturing industry.

  • Raising companies' awareness of the latest technologies through various media channels.

  • Setting up and carrying out ambitious research projects together with colleagues.

  • Managing and maintaining state-of-the-art of own technology domain, e.g. industrial automation, robotics in general (human/robot collaboration,), machine vision and different application domains.

What do we expect from you?

  • You have a master's degree in engineering in the field of automation, robotics and/or production techniques.

  • A healthy interest of the manufacturing industry and its companies or a first experience within the manufacturing industry is a plus.

  • You are passionate about new evolutions within digitalisation and automation: human/robot collaboration, AI, machine vision, AGV/AMRs...

  • You preferably have basic knowledge of AI and machine vision, and have notions of programming languages (Java, C#/C++, Python, ROS...).

  • You are analytical, can think along with the customer and succeed in translating the customer's needs into pragmatic, tangible solutions.

  • You are creative, result-oriented and hands-on and are interested in creating demonstrators and proof-of-concepts.

  • You will work in an inspiring environment where, in the long term, you are expected to initiate, supervise and contribute to content publications.

  • You have good social skills (in the context of complex multidisciplinary partnerships).

  • You communicate fluently and you know how to convince.

  • Your Dutch is excellent, good command of English and French is a plus.
