Azure Cloud Consultant (Linux Migration Project)

Type: Fixed-term contract or freelance (6–12 months)
Location: Leuven

Support our IT team in the migration of our Linux-based infrastructure to the Microsoft Azure Cloud. This is a project-based assignment for an experienced professional who can take technical ownership, design the migration approach, and implement secure and efficient solutions in collaboration with our internal IT team.

You will play a key role in shaping our future hybrid infrastructure, ensuring a smooth transition while building the necessary knowledge and documentation for sustainable internal management.

• Cloud migration & implementation: Lead the technical migration from on-premise Linux servers to Azure. Design, configure, and deploy the new cloud environment following best practices in scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.

• Hybrid infrastructure management: Ensure seamless integration between existing on-premise systems and Azure-based services.

• Project leadership: Coordinate and execute technical project phases — from analysis and architecture design to rollout and stabilization — in close collaboration with the IT Manager and internal teams.

• Automation & virtualization: Utilize Docker and other virtualization technologies to create efficient, maintainable environments.

• Microsoft 365 administration: Support and optimize our existing M365 environment (identity management, policies, integrations).

• Monitoring & security: Implement Azure monitoring tools, backup strategies, and security baselines aligned with NIS2 and other relevant standards.

• Documentation & knowledge transfer: Produce clear technical documentation and train internal staff to ensure long-term maintainability of the environment.

• Technical advisory: Act as a subject matter expert for complex infrastructure or cloud-related questions during and after the migration.

• Excellent project-based work and ability to coordinate technical delivery

• Comfortable operating in complex and multifaceted business ecosystems, balancing adaptability, empathy, and clear decision-making

• Communicative, proactive, and capable of translating organizational needs into practical technical solutions

• Experience with Linux environments and server administration

• Proven hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS, networking, governance, cost control)

• Experience with Docker and virtualisation technologies

• Knowledge of networking, security principles, and scripting

• Understanding of cybersecurity and NIS2 regulations is a strong asset

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Able to work both independently and collaboratively with internal teams

  • English: strong technical proficiency

  • French: an asset
