As Program Manager, you are the inspiring leader behind a teal of experts in (non-metal) material science such as polymers, coatings, and composites. With your team of experts, you propose and create an R&D project portfolio focused on technology to help companies apply these innovations and give them a market advantage.
Your role
In collaboration with the Business Unit Manager and the experts of your team, you translate the market needs in into strategic visions and a project portfolio. Subsequently, you draft convincing business cases for the submission of concrete R&D projects. Sirris works a lot in partnerships. You play an important role in setting up and developing these partnerships, anchoring Sirris' interests and providing technical input.
You are line manager for a diverse team. You encourage the development of knowledge and skills of your team members, balancing personal professional growth and the needs for (future) projects.
You oversee ongoing R&D projects in various stages of development. This includes resource planning, complex stakeholder management, escalation support and P&L management.
At (inter)national events, network meetings or meetings with (potential) customers or partners, you are Sirris’ ambassador for your program. Your storytelling is compelling and adapted to your target audience, building awareness and fostering confidence in Sirris as a high-tech knowledge center.
Based on technology scouting, you identify potential for innovation within the market.
To develop expertise in the sector and to firmly position Sirris' work in circular innovation, you encourage the team, in collaboration with Marketing & Communications, to speak at conferences, publish articles and develop educational initiatives (workshops, webinars, seminars, masterclasses, etc.).
A relevant Master's or PhD degree in Material Science Engineering, combined with an interest in chemistry or similar background.
Focus on people management within a team of engineers and technicians in a complex, project-based environment. You are recognized as a sparring partner and technology sounding board.
Strong and passionate in connecting people, ideas and visions.
Strategic do-er, conceptual and analytical, but also an approach characterized by business acumen, you are able to win client projects.
Experience with subsidized projects (at regional/Belgian/European level) is a plus.
Knowledge of P&L accounts and HR processes.
A clear, persuasive communication style, both internally and externally.
You are able to travel regularly in Belgium to visit our clients and partners and to attend various events for project or network meetings and to participate in seminars. This makes you a visible ambassador, representing and promoting Sirris' activities throughout the country.
Fluent English, and native Dutch or French with sufficient knowledge of the other national language, is an important advantage.
