Project Engeneer Elektromechanics with interest in R&D & Testing

Would you like to work as a project and test engineer in our large climatic test chamber, a high-tech test infrastructure in which components of wind turbines and other spill-over applications are tested under strict climatic conditions? Does it appeal to you to actively work as a project engineer on multidisciplinary research, development & innovation projects in numerous industries and various technological themes? Read on!

  • You will be responsible for the coordination and execution of off- and onshore test projects related to wind energy, energy transmission and energy transition (including storage, hydrogen and e-fuels) and spill-over applications: You will lead and manage from A to Z the climatic test and validation projects, set up (complex) electromechanical test campaigns and lead the operations and maintenance activities in cooperation with the lab technician, the customer and suppliers or partners. You will also work multidisciplinary with other Sirris teams, taking the lead in additional test campaigns (including our corrosion test bench)

  • You take on the project management for a large infrastructure project around the expansion of the test lab and are responsible for the continuous improvement of the test lab.

  • Besides the test and demonstration projects in the climatic test lab, you will also actively participate in setting up and implementing applied R&D projects related to wind energy and/or the energy transition in general

What do we expect from you?

  • You have a master degree in electro-mechanical engineering (or equivalent based on experiences).

  • You have preferably 2-3 years of experience in the energy sector or a testing and validation environment in electro-mechanical engineering in general.

  • You have experience and understanding of instrumentation and measurement set-ups (sensors, acquisition systems).

  • You have experience with test and validation projects.

  • You have project management and organizational skills.

  • You have a hands on attitude, and like to do practical implementation on prototype equipment such as installing sensors and data acquisition set-ups.

  • You have a pragmatic and practical attitude, excellent technical insight in combination with a commercial mindset and customer focus.

  • You are collaborative and have a team work mindset.

  • You are proactive, creative and you have a problem solving mindset.

  • You have excellent command of English and a good command of Dutch.

  • You are prepared to travel from time-to-time, in Belgium (to the different Sirris locations) and abroad from time to time to discuss international customer requests.
