Senior R&D Engineer Cyber Security

• As a principal cyber security engineer, you will be a sparring partner for the programme manager on the strategy of the cyber security programme within Sirris. As a driver of cyber security innovation, you will keep your finger on the pulse when it comes to (future) business needs in the field of digital security.

• You define the project portfolio and draw up case studies that contribute to the innovation needs of the industry in the field of product security (software products or IoT products) and the integration of operational technologies in, for example, the manufacturing industry.

• You actively lobby both existing and new partners to set up joint R&D initiatives.

• You supervise a team of 2-4 (Senior) Cyber Security Engineers.

• You take on the technical leadership for R&D projects, supervising the development of secure, advanced cyber solutions for critical systems.

• As an inspiring speaker at relevant technology conferences and/or events, you will share your knowledge with the audience and generate visibility for the Cyber Security team.

• You will be responsible for maintaining and developing strong relationships of trust with customers, identifying new business opportunities and selling the development of solutions.

• Project management and, above all, relationship management are central to this position. You will be in contact with government agencies, industry associations, universities, customers and internal colleagues in various teams.

• You have a master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Data Science or a similar background.

• You have 10+ years of experience in cyber security, with demonstrable relevant achievements in the field of designing innovative cyber security solutions or data security, either in the form of postdoctoral experience in academia, in the business world or in an industry-related R&D environment.

• You are analytical, curious and creative, and driven by exploring complex technological challenges that require applicable and scientifically sound solutions. You can illustrate this interest with concrete innovative digital security solutions that you have developed in recent years in an academic or industrial environment.

• You are attracted by Sirris' positioning as a knowledge centre at the intersection of research/innovation and the business world.

• You are an experienced project manager in complex multi-stakeholder, national and international environments. Goal- and quality-oriented, you bring structure and clarity. With diplomacy and the ability to convey strong expertise, you engage stakeholders to give their best.

• You are a convincing speaker at events or conferences.

• You are fluent in English and, as our partners (including regional authorities) are spread across Belgium, a professional level of communication in French and/or Dutch is desirable.

• You are able to travel regularly in Belgium to attend client and project meetings.
