Location: Liège, Belgium (travel to other Sirris sites across the country is to be foreseen)
We are looking for a Business Unit Manager – Product Solutions at Sirris
As Business Unit Manager – Product Solutions, you will shape and drive the technological roadmap of one of our key domains.
With a presence in our different sites and four laboratories, you will act as both, strategic architect and ambassador, developing a coherent vision and ecosystem that connects industry, academia, and public stakeholders.
You will guide a team of Program Managers and multidisciplinary experts working at the intersection of mechatronics, advanced materials, product development, and circular economy, turning innovation opportunities into impactful industrial product innovation projects.
1. Technical Leadership
Develop and implement a clear technological roadmap for the business unit, aligned with the organisation’s mission and long-term ambitions.
Recognise market trends and technological shifts, and translate them into a service offering to realise impactful industrial projects driven by Sirris.
Maintain an informed perspective on where industry and technology are heading, and articulate how the business unit can stay at the forefront.
Collaborate across the organisation with other Business Unit Managers on multidisciplinary projects, fostering synergy between technology areas.
2. Financial Leadership
Manage the business unit’s P&L (50 head count, 7,5 million turnover) with a strategic perspective on growth and sustainability.
Translate investment opportunities into budget plans and ensure cost awareness across teams.
Negotiate with partners and clients, demonstrating sound judgment on both financial and legal aspects.
3. Ecosystem Leadership
Develop and nurture a strong technological and industrial ecosystem, in which Sirris acts as a key enabler of innovation.
Be recognised as the reference point in your domain — technically, regionally, and in the market — and act as an ambassador for the business unit and for Sirris within the industrial ecosystem.
Strengthen collaborations with universities, clusters, and industrial partners to accelerate innovation and visibility.
4. Human-Centered Leadership
Encouraging a creative culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, and trust.
Inspire, engage, and empower teams to perform at their best through clarity, support, and shared purpose.
Demonstrate leadership and relational maturity.
Oversee efficient delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder projects while ensuring smooth collaboration across domains.
What do we expect from you?
Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
Strong background in industrial R&D, innovation management, or technology transfer.
Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex programs.
Demonstrate solid financial understanding and experience managing hybrid-funded projects (public–private, national or European) is an additional asset.
Demonstrated intellectual entrepreneurship — the ability to develop a vision and drive it forward with both internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to build bridges across disciplines and organisations.
Fluent in French; Dutch and English ideally.
